Villa Medici is an early terraced garden which traverses steep hillsides. The architecture of building and garden design work together as complementary pieces to the site. The villa was designed as a formal garden set within a wild hillside; placing within a single view a cultivated garden and nature. This view is at one end of an arbor which forms a terrace. Planted to the right are hydrangea. The arbor walk is an intermediate level between the terraces of the house (uphill to the right) and basement (downhill to the left).
