Description
The Chateau, near Melun, was built 1657-1661 by Louis Le Vau for Nicolas Fouquet, finance minister to Louis XIV; it is considered a masterpiece of French Baroque residential architecture; the gardens designed by Andre Le Notre was a prototype for the gardens at Versailles.
