Description

The Van Nelle Factory was a packaging plant for coffee, tea and tobacco. Currently, it houses offices and studios for architects and designers. It is considered an example of the Nieuwe Bouwen (New Building), a Dutch modernist movement.
It was one of the first factories to be built with concern for the well being of workers. Curtain walls of glass let in light, air was circulated scientifically and the production process and areas were designed for the comfort and safety of the employees.
