"This is a subsection of a larger ger(yurt) district on the far west side of Ulaanbaatar. The area is an informal settlement which has been occupied as people marginally employed in the countryside have moved to the city looking for jobs and amenities. Because the structures are imported directly from a nomadic lifestyle they create infrastructural issues in that they are not well accommodated for city living. Air pollution, sewage disposal, lack of running water, lack of potable water, and trash disposal are all major and common problems in these Ger districts." -Elizabeth Burdick
