Description

The Temple of Antoninus and Faustina was built by the emperor Antoninus Pius shortly after the death of his wife Faustina in 141 CE. After the death of Antoninus Pius in 161 CE the dedication was change to both Antoninus and Faustina. The temple is located on the Via Sacra between the Temple of Romulus and the Basilica Aemilia, in front of the Regia. The Forum Romanum was the political and economic center of Rome during the Republic_access; it held many of the central political, religious and judicial buildings in Rome. It is located in a valley between Capitoline Hill on the west, Palatine Hill on the south, the Velia on the east, and Quirinal Hill and the Esquiline Hill to the north.
