Description
The Chinese Overseas Archeological Exhibition Corporation (COAEC) and the Son of Heaven National Committee worked together to create the "Son of Heaven: Imperial Arts of China" exhibition in 1989. It was installed at the former Central High School building in downtown Columbus, Ohio on the banks of the Scioto River. The building was transformed into exhibit spaces by Schooley Caldwell Associates. The exhibition represented 26 centuries of China's past and includes work by the very finest artisans serving China's feudal rulers, or the "Sons of Heaven". Over 200 of the most significant of these national treasures were gathered from eight provinces and Beijing to represent China's imperial institution.
