It was designed by the architect Lorenzo Gafa, to replace a ruined Norman cathedral destroyed by the 1693 earthquake on Malta. The building is topped by a magnificent dome. In the cathedral, are works of Calabrian artist and Knight, Mattia Preti. - http://www.visitmalta.com/mdina-cathedral
