Description

The Rosedown Plantation in St. Francisville, Louisiana is a well known example of a southern plantation complex and is made up of 374 acres. Daniel and Martha Barrow Turnbull founded the plantation in the 1830s and at its height it encompassed 3,455 acres. Martha Turnball was very interested in horticulture and botany and the gardens are a display of many plants, some of which Martha introduced. Currently, Rosewood is on the National Register of Historic Places.
