Description
This 81-square-meter water mosaic is sited within Kemi's frozen harbor. It consists of 81 1-meter-square blocks made of "specialty waters" cast and frozen into holes cut approximately 50cm deep into the Kemi Harbor sea ice. The cast blocks are even with the top surface of the harbor ice. Each block has a text logo of its water made of floating material attached to an anchor on the sea floor. Students from the Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture at The Ohio State University traveled to Finland with Kivi Sotamaa, faculty member in Architecture to participate in the construction of several of the installations.
