Description
Architect Elmer H. Fisher's (ca. 1840-1905) best known building showing his adaptation of Romanesque Revival motifs within a Victorian compositional framework. The original 7th floor was damaged by the 1949 earthquake and was removed shortly thereafter. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and in addition to the building itself, the historic designation includes the Tlingit Totem Pole and Iron Pergola in adjacent Pioneer Place Park (also known as Occidental Park). The Seattle Underground Tour originates from this location.
