Warsaw was founded around 1300 by the Dukes of Mazovia, the region Warsaw is in. Their castle, the Royal Castle, became the royal seat in 1569 and is the most important edifice in the area. The entire area was destroyed in World War II after the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and as a final solution by Adolf Hitler. It was entire reconstructured, culminating in the completion of the Royal Castle in 1971.
