Description

Millennium Park occupies a city block and is bounded by Michigan Avenue on the west, Columbus Drive, East Monroe Drive, and East Randolph Streets. The Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Millennium Park Ice Skating Rink, and a massive (over 2000 spaces) underground parking lot are already completed. Frank Gehry, the winner of the Pritzker Prize in Architecture and the National Medal of Art, designed the bandshell with a special sound system stretching out across the audience areas in the outdoor music pavilion. Also in progress are: a heated indoor bike parking facility as well as a variety of fountains, trees and other landscaped items. The Blue Cross Blue Shield building is the skyscraper on the left.
