Metropol Parasol is a redevelopment project for the Plaza de la Encarnacion. The project was commissioned as a result of a competition in 2004. The new proposal explores the potential of the Plaza de la Encarnacion to be transformed into a new contemporary urban center. The project would house a museum, farmers market, an elevated plaza, multiple bars and restaurants underneath and inside the parasols, as well as a panorama terrace on the very top of the parasols.
