Construction began in 1994 and was completed in 1998. It was designed by British architect Nicholas Grimshaw. Fifteen arches create the building's ribbed structure that adapts to the slight curve in the irregular property at its base. Nicknamed the armadillo by locals. The Ludwid Erhard Haus was designed as a service center for the Chamber of Commerce and the Berlin Stock Exchange. Today, a vertical facade on the side of the building facing the Fasanen Strasse hides the actual round form of the structure. Orginially, a "tail of the armadillo" was also not constructed as planned; the restored Delphi Terraces have taken its place.
