Description
The Hotel des Invalides was founded by Louis XIV to provide care for wounded soldiers. It stands on a vast esplanade and houses the tomb of the Emperor Napoleon as well as museums. The construction of the dome began in 1706. It was designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and was completed by Robert de Cotte after Mansart died in 1708.
