Description
In the study, two groups of people -- visitors and residents -- were interviewed. The evaluative images of the city display the well-known (imageable) places that many observers reported either liking or disliking. The resident maps appear to cover more places and make finer distinctions between places than the visitor maps. The maps show that both groups of people dislike the appearance of chaotic and rundown districts and paths -- the CBD. They like the look of new, spacious landmark centers, vegetated districts, and paths with views of the river and the Smokies. (Nasar, 1998: pp. 38-47)
