Description

The 46-story Hearst Tower rises from Joseph Urban's existing six-story Art Deco building. It has a triangulated form, a highly efficient solution that uses 20 percent less steel than a conventionally framed structure. The Hearst Headquarters Tower received a Gold LEED certified rating for "core and shell and interiors" with applications of many environmentally sustainable design features such as the light-sensor system to control the amount of artificial light and the roof system to collect rainwater.
