Description
Hameenkyla church, designed by Olli Pekka Jokela, is located at an intersection of main roads, surrounded by large business buildings. To the south, the facade of the church rises like a castle wall. The back of the building is low, blending into the nearby residential area. The modern works of art represent themes from the most important feast of the ecclesiastical year, Passion Week. This image was taken in 1996 by John Schooley, FAIA, during an architectural tour of Finland.
