Description
The Speicherstadt, or Warehouse District, of Hamburg is a large residential and trade complex in the city. From 1885 to 1888 the first part was built and it was completed as is in 1927. During the Second World War the Speicherstadt was half-destroyed and partly reconstructed. Since 1991, it has been a Heritage Site for the city of Hamburg. The new HafenCity is being created south of it and will be completed around 2012.
