Description
Once the city's tallest structure, the Grand Arcade headquartered numerous iron ore and oil companies, as well as railroad lines and a manufacturer of industrial cleaners. Its construction was partially financed by John D. Rockefeller. The architects were George H. Smith and John Eisenmann. The Grand Arcade has a glass and iron skylight 100 feet high that allowed natural light to reach most parts of the building's interior. In 2001 the structure was renovated and converted into the Hyatt Regency, a luxury hotel. The building borders Euclid and Superior Avenues and is now a National Historic Landmark.
