Description
Designed by the Japanese firm SANAA (Sejima and Nishizawa and Associates), the Glass Pavilion in Toledo, Ohio, houses glass artworks and a glassmaking workshop. It is part of a complex that includes the Beaux-Arts-style art museum and the University of Toledo's Center for the Visual Arts. From the architects: "The building's transparency adds many layers of impressions. Glass can also show diversity through reflection and refraction. The convention of having two surfaces that are always depending on each other is altered in this design." -- Glass Pavilion: Toledo Museum of Art. (2006). Builders Exchange Magazine, 5(7).
