Description
Frederick R. Weisman provided a gift of $3 million, giving the University of Minnesota Art Museum a new home. The Frank Gehry-designed museum opened on November 21, 1993 and bears Weisman's name. The Washington Avenue Bridge, north, Coffman Memorial Plaza, east, Comstock Hall, south, and East River Road, west, surround the museum; the site overlooks the Mississippi River.
