Description
This is the only surviving example of the many equestrian statues that adorned Rome. It used to stand in the center of the square until 1980, when it was moved to the Capitoline Museum. It is believed that this statue survived until today because it was mistakenly thought to be a statue of Constantine. Today, a copy of the original stands in the square.
