Description
This building is located at 480 East Broad Street and was built to house a complete collection of fine arts complete with a fine arts library and educational and administrative facilities in addition to exhibition space, skylighted galleries, and an auditorium. The building's three part facade includes a projecting center section with three round-arched entrances, flanked by wings with five low trabeated openings below a large sculptural frieze, 4 1/2 feet high by 48 feet long and on either side of the entrance way. The frieze was created by artist Robert Aitken of New York City and portrays 66 artists.
