"The steeply pitched, dormered roof of the Chauncey Williams House was more common to the work of Wright's British contemporaries than to his own canon. Looking at the facade, we would expect the octagon to be part of the living room; actually it is the library, the living room being placed at the back of the house. Instead of the easy transition from the living to the dining rooms that is typical in most Wright homes, one must travel back through the reception area to reach the living room. Nor is the library accessible, except through the living room." --Cannon, P. F. (2006). Hometown Architect: The complete buildings of Frank Lloyd Wright in Oak Park and River Forest, Illinois.
