Description
"Originally designed as a private residence, the house - a unique example of Art Deco architecture - and the park - inspired by the modernists - were commissioned by the second Count of Vizela, Carlos Alberto Cabral. In terms of architecture and landscape, they represent a remarkable and harmonious creation that is unique in both Portugal and Europe. The house was completed in 1940, its final plans having been drawn up by the eminent Portuguese architect, Marques da Silva. It is a significant example of the work of some of the most prominent architects and decorators of the 1920s and 1930s, namely Siclis, Lalique, Leleu, Perzel, Porteneuve, Ruhlmann and Brandt. Jacques Gréber designed the garden, one of the few examples of Art Deco gardens to be found in Europe." --http://www.serralves.pt/ Keywords: Portugal, Porto, Art Deco, Marques da Silva, Jacques Greber, residential structures, pink, house, housing.
