The new addition to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art (NAMA), named the Bloch Building, is located at the eastern edge of the original 1933 Beaux-Arts builing. Steven Holl used five "lenses". During the day, the glass "lenses" bring varying qualities of natural light into the gallery spaces, while at night the sculpture garden glows with their internal light. The Bloch Building also utilizes sustainable building concepts like daylighting, employing a green roof, and natural ventilation.
