Description
"This four-story building is a headquarters for a digital motion picture graphics firm and reuses the structure of a bowstring truss warehouse which once occupied its site. The ancillary buildings were removed from the site except for a single brick wall and the double bowstring truss system. A four story steel frame of wide flange beams and tube columns were built over the trusses, which now extend beyond the south wall and are exposed. The anomaly is the lobby/building entrance in which a tilted cylinder intersects the existing grid of walls, frames, trusses and roof. It extends through the lobby to bulge into the first floor conference room. A tilted, cubic block hangs off the west end of the lobby and becomes the second floor conference room. The north elevation has louvered screens and bridges (mechanical access) between the four office blocks. The bridges create a "roller coaster" line across the top of the north facade and are also visible from the interior." www.ericowenmoss.com Keywords: United States, California, Los Angeles County, commercial structures.
