Description
The 10th at Hoyt is an internal courtyard inspired by forms, textures and colors of the Persian gardens. The design is focused on the use of stormwater collection, storage and reuse. Stormwater from the roof travels down into the courtyard at three points, and further travels through chutes, concrete channels, copper and corten steel, finally disappearing into raised basins filled with river stones. The water is stored for 30 hours in a 4000 gallon cistern below grade and is recirculated into the courtyard fountains (Rhodes, 2007). Keywords: sustainability, stormwater, rainwater harvesting, gutters, 10th @Hoyt.
